  8. ShapeShifter is a multitasking shareware Macintosh-II emulator for
  9. the Amiga and DraCo computers. It allows to run Macintosh software
  10. concurrently to Amiga applications without hardware add-ons or
  11. modifications.
  12.  
  13. Some of the emulation's features:
  14.  
  15.  - Color display up to 256 colors on AGA Amigas (16 colors on ECS)
  16.    and up to 16.7 million colors on graphics cards
  17.  - Support for one or two monitors
  18.  - No MMU required, even runs on A1200
  19.  - Macintosh hard disks can be simulated in Amiga files or Amiga
  20.    hard disk partitions
  21.    [unregistered version has no hard disk partition support]
  22.  - Can use Amiga floppy drives, serial, parallel and SCSI ports
  23.    from the Mac
  24.    [use of SCSI not possible in unregistered version]
  25.  - Mac HD disks can be read directly with an HD floppy drive,
  26.    Mac 720K disks can be used with any Amiga floppy drive. To use
  27.    Mac 800K disks, you have to own CrossMAC and an original Mac drive
  28.  - Multichannel sound output and parallel-port sound digitizers
  29.    supported
  30.  - Access to Ethernet networks
  31.  - Simple networking between two Amigas with PLIP
  32.  - Text clipboard sharing between Mac and Amiga
  33.  - File handler to access Macintosh volumes from the Workbench
  34.  - Speed comparable to a real Mac with equivalent hardware

  36. Requirements:

  38. OS2.1, 68020 processor, 4MB of RAM, HD floppy drive recommended.
  39. A copy of a Macintosh 512K or 1MB ROM and the Macintosh system
  40. software are not included, but required. The ROM can be read off
  41. of a real Mac by using a supplied program, the system software
  42. can be bought from Apple. Note, however, that reading the ROM is
  43. only legal if you have bought the ROMs or own a real Macintosh.

  45. The most important changes in V3.5:
  46.  
  47.  - AppleTalk/MacTCP/MacIPX can be used on two Amigas connected via PLIP
  48.  - ShapeShifter is System 7.5.3 compatible
  49.  - System 7.5.1 runs better on the DraCo
  50.  - The serial driver allows using 115 and 230kbps transmission speed on
  51.    an appropriately fast machine
  52.  - New PrepareEmul which co-operates better with other KickTags
